Hi! I have been lurking for weeks (months?), partly because I decided to finish my fic for this crossover exchange, instead of sensibly defaulting, and it ate up all the time I could reasonably devote to fandom (and wasn't really worth the effort, either). Anyway! The archive opened last night, and if you enjoy crossovers, you should check it out .

I received two lovely, really different, fics:

Rediscovery (3017 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Supernatural, X-Men (Movieverse)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, John Winchester, Bobby Singer, Impala
Additional Tags: mention of suicidal thoughts, Mutant!Dean
Series: Part 1 of Sentience and its Uses
Summary:

She'd always known that her human was special. After all, Baby knew him best. It just took the others a little while to figure it out.

I haven't had much to do with SPN fandom for a while, but I'm always so glad to read about Dean--and this story makes his mutant abilities make so much sense.

Diagnosis: Murder (231 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: House M.D., Hannibal (TV)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Greg House, James Wilson (House M.D.), Hannibal Lecter
Additional Tags: crossovering treat
Summary:

Food and conversation.

I adored this snippet of (im)polite conversation, and wanted it to go on forever!

More soon about other stuff--hope you're all doing well!

There is too much to watch on TV! Some things have already been regulated to the status of “okay, I’ll watch it with the boys if they feel like it after dinner” (sadly, this seems to mean that H50 and Elementary and Arrow are duking it out with Dr. Who, Alphas and Psych).

Here’s what’s rising above that at the moment (idiosyncratic, I admit):

Last Resort:

Merlin: Yeah, who would’ve thought that Merlin would have such staying power? But I continue to really enjoy it on both the cheesy (shirtless knights, anyone?) and emotional fronts (stories of good leaders are my number one bullet proof kink).

Homeland: I’m not sure what’s going to happen now that the “is he or isn’t he?” question has been answered. But I don’t care, because I’m still mesmerized by Carrie, Saul and Brody (only halfway through 2x02 on this one)

I have also, thanks to [personal profile] garryowen’s persuasive abilities, been watching Wallander. I watched the third, most recent, series first, because it was streaming on PBS (yes, this is one of the simple pleasures of sad souls like me that Mitt Romney would take away). I usually associate Kenneth Branagh with bombast, but he’s lovely and restrained and vastly appealing in this—middle-aged and poignant and tough and smart (and a hot mess). Also: Sweden is beautiful. I’m making my way through S1 now, which is grimmer and shot with a lot of surprise!close-ups and surprise!blurriness which bug me, but still well worth watching, if you like your procedurals with a lot of angst.

And that's more than enough!

[livejournal.com profile] electricmonk333 has done an wonderful podfic of “Two Boys from Kansas in King Uther’s Court”, my SPN/Merlin xover, for [livejournal.com profile] podficbigbang. At 36k, this is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written, and has more action scenes than the rest of my fics put together, but [livejournal.com profile] electricmonk333 has a beautiful voice and does a wonderful job of sustaining the pace of the fic over 3 hrs and 38 minutes (a better job than the pacing of the story actually deserves, tbh).

CLICK HERE to dl and to see the gorgeous cover art by [livejournal.com profile] helva2260.

As people always say, it is weird to listen to your own fic read by other people, but even though I sometimes wished I’d taken a red pencil to the fic before it was recorded (too many adverbs and epithets *facepalm*), I still laughed at an embarrassing number of my own jokes. Listening to the fic, which is set in SPN S1 and Merlin S1 (I even had to invent an extra knight for Camelot, as there were no knights in S1—can you believe it?), also reminded me of how much fun it had been to write SPN fic, which I haven’t thought about in a while.

**

Inspired by that, I, perhaps foolishly, decided my sons were old enough to watch SPN—S1 at least.

Son #2 drifted away, but son #2 and I devoured the pilot and “Wendigo” in one sitting. Omigod the boys were cute in those days, weren’t they?

I’ve run three times this week, and done two of my three 10k workouts (more on the other blog). Wondering when I’ll get the last one in, though, since the weather is supposed to be between 100-104F tomorrow through Tues. With a low of 75. Which means that if I run at 7am, it’ll already be 80. *wipes away anticipatory sweat*

**

In conclusion: Why can’t I go see Magic Mike the minute it opens, people, why? I will be kid-free on Tues., though, and that is the first thing I’m gonna do, I tell you what. I need that movie like whoa.

Not exactly what I meant to do today, but, look, SPN fic, for the first time since February. All thanks to the awesome feverish!Dean meme going on over at [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time. Of course, it turned out to be kinky het porn, but there you go.

Title: Remember When Your Were My Girl?
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Meg
Spoilers: nothing past S5
Warnings: dub-con/non-con, gender play, pegging, crude language, fever!sex
Word count: ~1.2K
Disclaimer: Not mine, no profit.

a/n: for this prompt from [livejournal.com profile] vie_dangerouse: Dean has a high fever. Meg finds that it really, really turns her on. The heat reminds her of home, and things that she and Dean used to get up to down there.
a/n: also for the "gender play" square on my [community profile] kink_bingo card.

Summary: “Why’d you leave us?" asks Meg. "Why’d you come out here where it’s cold?”

Title: Forever Ain’t that Long (the Jordan remix)
Rating: R
Pairings: Dean/Dean, Dean/OFC.
Setting: End ‘verse AU.
Word Count: ~4K
Warnings: Along with the same person sex? Depression, permanent injury and vague suicidal ideation.
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] calamitycrow--thanks as always, bb!

a/n: This is a remix of [livejournal.com profile] wave_obscura’s Forever Ain’t That Long, done for the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time remix challenge. I hope you don’t mind the liberties I’ve taken with your awesome, fic, bb!

a/n: This feels like part of a fanfic version of “telephone.” “Forever” was originally written for a prompt on [livejournal.com profile] roque_clasique’s amazing birthday comment fic meme, which started almost exactly a year ago today (1/8/09). The prompt was: End ‘verse. 2009!Dean is busted-up hardcore and he only trusts 2014!Dean to help him get around and do everyday things.. [livejournal.com profile] wave_obscura says that “Forever” was “very much inspired by [livejournal.com profile] roque_clasique’s painfully awesome fic Asterisms with the same basic set up-- 2009!Dean never goes back to the past and they're still hunting down Lucifer.”

My fic uses that set up as well—and is very much in the shadow of its two amazing predecessors (plus, it uses some of the dialogue from “Forever”). I really don’t know what to think of this one, and I’m pretty anxious about posting it. Please, please read the rating, pairings and warnings before you begin!

Summary: Dean knew that look. He’d made it himself often enough, from the inside out. And, shit, if he’d ever thought he was on the down-low with that look, he was even stupider than he’d realized.

a/n: for the last square on my [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo diagonal line: “wings (always there).” I don’t think this is quite how the prompt is supposed to be used, but I hope it counts anyway.

Fandoms: Fringe/Supernatural
Characters: Walter Bishop, Peter Bishop, Olivia Dunham, Dean Winchester, Castiel.
Pairings: none
Rating: pg-13 (for drug use)
Word Count: ~4.2K
Spoilers: through the middle of S5 for SPN (with two gratuitously quoted lines from S6); through S2 for Fringe. Specific spoilers for Fringe 2.16 (“Peter”) and 2.23 (“Over There, Pt. 2”) and SPN 5.04 (“The End”).
Warnings: recreational drug use.
Disclaimer: Fringe and Supernatural belong to their respective creators.
a/n: many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dotfic for the extremely helpful beta! All remaining mistakes my own.
a/n: the main action of the story takes place between 5.02 and 5.04 for SPN, mid-S2 for Fringe.
a/n: quoted text, and one unmarked allusion from T.S. Eliot, The Wasteland and Little Gidding.
a/n: the idea that angels can move between alternate universes stolen from His Dark Materials, although that story has nothing to do with this one.
a/n: written for [livejournal.com profile] ozmissage at the multifandom [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange and originally posted over there.

In other news:

I actually saw HP 7 over the weekend. And despite having fifty pounds of five-year-old in my lap for most of the 2.5 hours, I really enjoyed it. I’m not much of a HP fan (though I’ve read most of them aloud to son #1), and this is the first of the movies I’ve seen in a movie theater, so I can’t really review it. But tell me what you thought, if you saw it.

Also, son #2 and I have been watching the BBC Robin Hood series from a few years ago on DVD. I’ve never seen it before, or heard much about it. It seems like Merlin, but with arrows (and no dragon). But we’re enjoying it. Is there stuff I should know about it?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES IT!

I hear that Fringe is keeping the angst flag flying for us all, and I enjoyed 3.02. I meant to watch 3.03 on Friday, but got sidetracked by a dl of Benedict Cumberbatch, in all his gingery, posh, non-Sherlockian glory, hosting “Have I Got News for You.” Y’all know how I feel about the Cumber-voice, so you can imagine how much fun I had hearing him drawl-growl his way through words like “retaliatory” (which I now know has about a thousand more syllables in England than it does here—a fact about which I have no complaints). Except now I’m even more behind with Fringe.

But, I dunno, Benny, the competition is back in town—y’all saw the RDJ/JL set pics y/y? I may have to do a dueling Sherlock post soon.
