Strangely, and I don't remember where this was now, I once was someplace that had phones on the tables.
Of course the most memorable "phoning strangers" event I can recall was when Paco Rabanne decided to promote a new fragrance by putting a near naked guy in bed in a department store display window, with a phone so that passerbys could talk to him.
