A really, really instant reaction, and not particularly well-thought through.
Okay, I couldn’t warm up to the epic Neal/Kate love, but I quite enjoyed the flashback ep. And I have to say this: I have watched a lot of slashy episodes of a lot of slashy shows, but, despite the heaping serving of het canoodling we got here, this one had to be in the top five.
Because really, Peter, since when do you show up for a professional debriefing after finding out your CI has a history with the chief suspect with a six-pack and a bottle of wine? And tell your singlet-clad CI that you’re going to spend the night—all night--drinking together? And a bit later on lean over the parapet with your elbows touching watching the New York City pre-dawn? Yeah. There’s only one reason you do that stuff. ‘Cause the information? That you could get over a cappuccino.
And, on a creepier note, wasn’t it kind of clear that Mozzie was sending Neal in seduce Adler? Why else would he have given Neal that once over and told him he looked better for the part? Which basically involved what? Getting Adler to the point where he was buying Neal bespoke suits. Maybe I’m missing something about the world of high finance, but that doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you routinely do for your junior employees (think how we would have felt if we’d seen him buying Kate a $10K dress? ) The whole thing seemed to only work as a sex scam….
And that’s all without even mentioning Peter triumphantly sucking on Neal’s green lollypop at the end. No. Really.
Other than that, floppy-haired!occasionally-unsure!Neal was adorable (as adorable as baby!Satchmo)
Alex was fun (and MB’s girl-kissing has much improved since the first season).
I love that Neal likes to dance around naked after sex.
