I'm hopeful about two things: (1) That Sam gets a clearer storyline of his own this season as a result of the "split" and (2) This leads to more complex storytelling. They've often done ok in terms of layering A and B stories in an episode but this, combined with a buildup of supporting characters, could lead for the first time to multiple story strands stretching over a season.
