Y'know, I enjoyed the movie, too, despite my griping. The books are even better, though. If you bear in mind that they are geared "young adults"--or have a "young adult" you can share them with--they're really fun--they do some great things with revising Greek mythical figures (more elaborately than the movie does), and the author is very good at describing action/fighting. And the characters have a little more emotional heft (Luke and Annabeth got particularly short shrift in the movie, imo).
